The Stepford Wives

I got The Stepford Wives from the library today and read it pretty much in one sitting, and it really fucked me up. First of all, it was remarkably feminist for something written in the seventies by a man. But that wasn't really the part that messed with my mind. No, a measly 145 pages was enough to draw a fascinating plot that kept the reader guessing until the end, even past that. The ending was simultaneously predictable and unexpected, crystal clear yet uncertain.

I read this book to get a reference to "Stepford Chris" in Attachments, but it proved to be a journey in and of itself.
he is we

Hello.

I don't really know how this works. Or if it's a good idea to get into this website, really. A lot of the communities I've looked at so far haven't been updated in a couple of years. Is this website in decline? (will anyone be reading this? no.)

It seemed like a good idea to post something in my journal. I hope I don't accidentally send people notifications by posting this or something. Like I said, no idea how this works.

Well, since this is supposed to be a journal, maybe some stuff about how my life is going right now? I'm off to a summer program in a few days, at a college, and I'm pretty nervous for that. Everyone is going to be really smart, and really good at science and stuff. It's a science program. I mean, I'm good at science too, but I'm afraid I won't be good enough. It'll probably be fine, though. That doesn't mean I'll stop worrying.

Recently I had this idea for a novel that I've been trying to expand on, but I have little discipline when it comes to writing my own characters. Using other people's characters, however... now that's something I can do. I definitely have more time to work on fanfiction now, because it's the summer, so hopefully I'll finish something new for the Simon Snow fandom soon. (Couldn't find a community on here for that.) I'd really love to write something for the Community fandom, something Troy/Abed or Troy/Abed/Annie, or even Jeff/Annie, but I find certain characters a lot more difficult to work with than others. I've never really written for a TV show before either, which could definitely be part of it. I also hope to do some more Enchanted Forest Chronicles stuff this summer, but that fandom is even smaller than the Simon Snow fandom.

This month I also hope to read one or more of the books in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the third Harry Potter book in Spanish. I'm trying to work my way through the series by the end of high school. I mean, I've read it in English before, obviously. I feel like lately I haven't been as interested in reading. I've been so caught up in Community that it took me about a week to finish the last Artemis Fowl book, even though I was very excited for it and had a lot of free time.

Well, in conclusion, I don't think anyone will actually read this, and I'm not sure if I'd want them to anyway.
